What to Do When It Rains in Bordeaux? The 100% Dry Activity!

The weather forecast says rain for the weekend? No stress! At Clock Escape, we're officially the driest activity in Bordeaux. Yes yes, you read that right.

0% humidity guarantee: With us, the only thing that flows is adrenaline! Our three escape game rooms are 100% indoor and nice and warm.

Bordeaux in the rain: the weekend dilemma

We all know this scenario: you've planned a great day outdoors, maybe a walk along the quays, a picnic in the park, or even just a relaxed shopping trip. And then, you check the weather on Friday evening... Result: little drops all over Saturday. Or worse: continuous showers. Well, it's not dramatic, but it does change the plans a bit, doesn't it?

The thing is, in Bordeaux, when it rains, we quickly tend to fall back on the same activities: cinema, museum, or we stay home watching series under a blanket. It's nice, yeah, but after the third rainy weekend, you start going in circles a bit. And frankly, if you have kids or teens to keep busy, Netflix doesn't always do the trick.

Clock Escape: your plan B (which might become your plan A)

That's where we come in! At Clock Escape, we specialize in 100% indoor adventures. No need for an umbrella, no need for rubber boots, no need to check every 5 minutes if it's stopping. You walk through our door, and boom, you're transported to another universe: a mysterious temple, a 1920s spy club, or a ghost ship. And guess what? It never rains in our rooms.

Okay, we're joking, but seriously: an escape game is really the perfect activity when it rains. First because you're dry and warm (we even have AC in summer, we're equipped for all seasons). But especially because it's an activity that holds all your attention for 60 minutes. You don't have time to think about the crappy weather outside, you're too busy solving puzzles and saving the world (or at least escaping from your room).

Why escape game is THE indoor activity in Bordeaux

1. A real adventure without sticking your nose outside

Unlike a movie where you sit in the dark (ok, that's cool too), or a museum where you sometimes have to walk miles between rooms, an escape game is an active adventure. You search, you manipulate objects, you solve puzzles, you work as a team. It's immersive, it's dynamic, and above all, it's suitable for all ages. Whether you come with an 8-year-old family or with friends for a challenge afternoon, everyone finds their place.

2. No need to plan 3 weeks in advance

The advantage with Clock Escape is that we're open 7 days a week. So even if you decide on Saturday morning when you see the rain falling that you want to do an escape game, you can check our availability online and book a slot during the day. Obviously, if you're sure your weekend will be rainy (thanks to the 7-day forecast), book a bit in advance to be sure to have the slot you want. But overall, we're quite flexible.

3. An activity that creates memories (and anecdotes)

You know what we love at Clock Escape? It's that people always come out with stories to tell. Like "Remember when Dad tried to turn the globe the wrong way for 10 minutes?" or "I can't believe we didn't see the clue that was right under our noses!". These little moments of laughter, shared panic, collective victory, they stay engraved. It's much more memorable than an afternoon spent on the couch scrolling on your phone waiting for the rain to stop.

Which room to choose when it rains?

Good question! Our three rooms are great, but depending on your mood and the composition of your group, you might have preferences:

🗿 The Cursed Temple - For adventurers

If it's raining outside, might as well travel through time! Head to a mysterious temple where you'll have to uncover ancestral secrets. It's our most immersive room, perfect if you really want to escape Bordeaux's greyness. Difficulty level: 4/5, so bring your neurons and your team spirit!

🕵️ The Spy - For families and beginners

Gatsby atmosphere, red velvet and spy mysteries. It's our most accessible room, perfect for families or if it's your first escape game. And frankly, a bit of 1920s elegance warms the spirits when it's ugly outside. Difficulty level: 3/5, accessible and fun!

⚓ The Ghost Ship - For mystery lovers

It's raining outside? Perfect, because our ghost ship loves the slightly dark and mysterious atmosphere. Embark on a maritime adventure full of secrets and tricky puzzles. It's our most "atmospheric" room, ideal for a thrilling afternoon when the weather sucks. Difficulty level: 4/5, for teams who love a challenge!

The typical path of a successful rainy day

Okay, we'll give you our personal recipe to turn a rainy day into a great day. First, you come to Clock Escape (obviously). You book a slot, let's say at 2:30 PM. That way, you have time to have a relaxed lunch before (we have lots of good restaurants around, ask us for recommendations if you want).

You arrive at our place, we give you a little briefing, and off you go for 60 minutes of intense adventure. You come out around 3:45 PM, with stars in your eyes and probably a bit of sweat on your forehead (yes, even in winter, our rooms work the brain). Then? Well, you're in the heart of Bordeaux! You can go have a snack in a tea room, take a tour of the Galeries Lafayette if you want to shop under cover, or even go to the movies if you feel like continuing with another indoor activity.

The advantage of our location is really that you have everything nearby. No need to run in the rain or look for a parking spot for 20 minutes. Everything is accessible on foot or by tram.

🌧️ Fun fact

In 2024, we noticed a spike in bookings every time it rained on weekends. Conclusion? Bordeaux residents understood that escape game is THE good plan when the weather acts up. Be smart, book before everyone else!

Who to come with when it rains?

With family

Honestly, it's great to keep the whole tribe busy. Kids love searching everywhere and feeling like real adventurers, and parents rediscover their inner child. Plus, it's different from classic activities where teens drag their feet in "I'm bored" mode. Here, everyone is involved, everyone participates. And let's not kid ourselves, it's still more stimulating than another round at the mall.

With friends

You had planned a barbecue or football with friends, but it's raining? Change of plans! Escape game is an opportunity to test your ability to work as a team (and discover who's really the brain of the group). Plus, after the session, you have enough to fuel conversations for weeks. "Dude, I told you the key was in the vase!" – Classic.

As a couple

Date day in the rain? Why not an escape game! It's original, it's fun, and it lets you see how you handle stress together (well, we hope you won't argue over the puzzles, huh). Spoiler alert: if you manage to escape, your relationship can overcome anything. Or almost.

We're waiting for you, even (especially) in the rain

There you go, you know everything! Next time you wake up on a Saturday morning and see the grey clouds piling up over Bordeaux, don't have that little pinch in your heart anymore. Take your phone, go to our website, and book your slot at Clock Escape. We promise you 60 minutes of dry, warm, and above all, memorable adventure.

And between us, there's something quite satisfying about being nice and warm solving puzzles while you hear the rain drumming outside. It's kind of our adult version of the blanket fort, but better.

So, what are you waiting for? The weather doesn't wait, and neither do we. Come discover why we're Bordeaux residents' favorite indoor activity when the weather sucks. We guarantee you'll leave with a smile (and maybe a bit wet anyway, because well, you have to go home after). But at least you'll have had a great time!
